Is my credit card charged when I use it to book online?
Nope! Your credit card simply holds your space and is only charged at checkout.
When should I schedule my appointment?
-Waxing: Every 3-4 weeks, or 2 days before a major event.
-Chemical Peels: Once a month for no more than 5 consecutive months, or 14 days before a major event.
-Facials: 1-2 times a month, or one week before a major event.
Am I safe to wax?
If you:
-Have taken antibiotics in the last 30 days
-Are using retinol creams or oral acne medications such as accutane
-Are using topical steroids
-Have tanned or sunburned in the last 3 days
We will not be able to perform the service. These contraindications thin the skin, and can result in a “lift” or removal of the epidermal layer (it’s not fun for either party, we promise).
Do chemical peels hurt?
Some people feel absolutely nothing, while some feel a slight tingling sensation during the peel, but it fades within seconds. After the peel, you should have zero discomfort other than occasional “tightness” with facial movements.
I heard you don’t accept tips?
You heard right! You should only be responsible for what’s quoted and that’s that.
The best tip you can give is a referral & earn yourself $10 off your next service! Plus it’s weird.
Wax
What is a Brazilian?
A Brazilian wax is the removal of all hair from the front and the back.
Does it hurt?
I won’t lie, the first one can be a spicy, but it’ll be over before you know it. Avoid caffeine and alcohol hours prior to the appointment as they can increase pain levels. Some clients find Tylenol or Ibuprofen 30 minutes prior to their appointment helps alleviate some of the discomfort. If you’re really, really concerned, I retail a numbing cream that needs to be applied prior to coming in.
How long does hair need to be for a successful wax?
Hair must be at least 1/4" to be waxed (about the length of grain of rice).
Do I need to trim?
Please do not trim before your appointment. Even if you feel the hair is too long, I will assess and trim if necessary.
What about ingrowns?
Proper aftercare is key. Although some of us are just more prone to getting them. If ingrowns are a major concern, book yourself a vajacial and we can address them with more time.
What do I do before a wax?
-Wear loose fitted clothing.
-No shaving for at least 2-3 weeks prior to your first wax.
-Exfoliate well 24 hours prior to waxing.
-No suntanning 48 hours prior to getting waxed (sunburned skin CANNOT be waxed).
-Avoid caffeine and alcohol hours prior to appointment as they can increase pain levels.
-Some clients find Tylenol or Ibuprofen 30 minutes prior to their appointment helps alleviate some of the discomfort.
What do I do after?
No touching, sweating, exercise, or intercourse for 24-48 hours post wax.
-No suntanning (beds or natural) for 24-48 hours post wax.
-No standing water (ex. baths or hot tubs) or hot water 24-48 hours post wax.
-Exfoliate at lease 2-3 times per week starting 24-48 hours post wax.
-I retail an exfoliating glove for $3.
-Cotton underwear is your friend!
-Avoid shaving in between appointments for optimal results.
How often should I get waxed?
It’s totally up to you! Every 4-6 weeks is typically the sweet spot. Anything after that, is like starting all over. Keeping a consistent schedule will have hair grow back slower, softer, more fine and may lead to permanency.
Can I get waxed if I am on my period?
Yes. Please arrive with a fresh tampon (or menstrual cup) in place in order to receive any bikini or brazilian waxing. Increased sensitivity is common during menstruation but it is normal and common to get waxed during your cycle.
Can I get waxed while pregnant?
Yes, but keep in mind the added hormones can contribute to additional sensitivity while getting waxed. If you are pregnant at 5 months or more and haven't seen us at least three times in the past 5 months, we will not be able to wax you. Pregnancy hormones thicken the hair and the swelling of your body, it'll be an extremely uncomfortable experience for you. Please consult your physician prior to appointment if you have any concerns.
What if I am taking medications?
Antibiotics and/or topical acne medications such as (but not limited to) Retinols, Epiduo, Differin, Alpha Hydroxy Acids etc. can cause skin sensitivity and skin to lift when waxed.
*You must be off Accutane for 1 year prior to waxing.
What kind of wax do you use?
Soft wax (strip) or Sugar. Being trained in both types of wax allows me to provide excellent results regardless of hair type, service, or skin type.
What is Sugaring?
100% natural made up of lemon, water and sugar. It is a great option for the most sensitive skin and is warmed to body temperature.
What happens if I get an erection?
These things happen, it’s a natural reaction and it's totally normal and common. There’s no way your "excitement" will last. HOWEVER, if you make it weird, I will end the service, require payment in full, and blacklist you from returning to the studio.
Don’t make it weird.
Facial
Who are facials good for?
Facials are great option for anyone that wants a clear, balanced complexion.
Facials can maintain the health of skin, address and correct certain skin conditions, and improve the overall appearance and texture of your skin.
Facials are available to both men and women of any age and those that need to combat specific skin issues.
How often do I need a facial?
It is recommended to have a deep cleansing facial at least once a month. Greater frequency may be required for facials that target a specific skin concern or are corrective in nature.
What are the benefits of a facial?
Regular facial treatments provide:
-A deep cleanse
-Provide a professional exfoliation
-Increases Circulation and Detoxifies
-Relaxes the senses, nerves, and muscles
-Stimulates skin functions and metabolism
-Slows premature aging
-Treats conditions such as dryness, oiliness, or redness
-Softens wrinkles and aging lines
-Helps clear up minor blemishes and acne
-Professional extractions
How do I prepare for a facial?
We will remove any makeup you are wearing prior to your facial. However, if you arrive with no makeup, we will have more time to focus on other, more results-driven elements of your facial.
*For express services, please come in with no makeup
What is microdermabrasion?
Microdermabrasion is a mechanical form of exfoliation. We use a diamond tip (metal attachment with an abrasive surface) and soft vacuum to gently remove and suction dead skin cells from the skin’s surface.
The benefits are diminished:
-Sun Damage
-Pigmentation
-Open and Closed Comedones (blackheads and whiteheads)
-Fine Lines
-Wrinkles
-Enlarged Pores
-Coarsely Textured Skin
What is Dermaplaning?
Dermaplane is a treatment that uses a medical scalpel to gently exfoliate the outer layer of dead skin cells and remove fine facial hair commonly known as “peach fuzz”, technically called “vellus” hair. It can be used as an alternative to laser treatments and microdermabrasion or along with them for an enhanced result. This procedure will give your skin a more radiant appearance. Following the treatment, makeup application is smoother and other skincare products can penetrate deeper in turn making them more effective.
What is High Frequency?
The high frequency is used to help treat and prevent stubborn acne, shrink enlarged pores, reduce the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, and cellulite, decongest puffy eyes, fade dark eye circles and even rejuvenate the condition of the scalp for improved hair growth.
What are the Benefits of High Frequency?
1.Improvement In Acne
2.Reduction in Enlarged Pores & Blackheads
3.Softening of Fine Lines, Wrinkles, and Sagging Skin
4.Reduction in Puffiness
5.Fading of Dark Eye Circles
6.Healthier Hair Growth
What Is an Enzyme Peel
Enzyme peel is a type of chemical exfoliator, which utilizes natural enzymes that dissolve dead skin cells. The most commonly used fruit enzymes in the studio are:
*Papain – enzyme of papaya
*Bromelain – enzyme found in pineapple
*Pumpkin pulp – one of the most potent fruit enzymes
What does an enzyme peel do?
Similarly, fruit enzymes act like AHAs, but are more mild and gentle to the skin. Because enzymes work only on a skin surface level and exfoliate only dead and damaged skin cells, they do NOT cause damage to the healthy living cells and don’t cause skin irritation or peeling like chemical peels do.
That is to say, enzymatic peels are ideal for sensitive, delicate, dry, acne-prone, irritated and dull skin, congested pores or for those who can’t tolerate AHAs.
What is the benefit of an enzyme peel?
One of the main advantages of enzyme face peel is its ability to gently exfoliate skin without causing irritation while providing immediate visible results. Even though an enzyme peel is more mild and doesn’t exfoliate skin as deep as alpha/beta hydroxy peels, it still provides many benefits similar to chemical peel. In fact, enzyme peel for skin is mainly known for its superb brightening and rejuvenating properties. Additional benefits of enzyme peel include:
-Reveals brighter complexion
-Evens out skin tone
-Improves skin texture
-Reduces age spots, sun damage and pigmentation
-Improves appearance of scars
-Minimizes fine lines & wrinkles
-Refines pores
-Improves overall appearance of skin
-Improves product absorption
-Safe for sensitive and irritated skin
-Doesn’t increase sun sensitivity
